ChildProtectionPolicy

Camp Efigenio C Navarro, Calapan City- All Chiefs of Women and Children Protection Desk nationwide gathered at Stairway Foundation Inc., Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro with PCSUPT JUANITA SUAY NEBRAN, Chief, Women and Children Protection Center, Camp Crame,Quezon City for a three (3) day seminar workshoip on the formulation of the PNPs Child Protection Policy, a policy which will put into place behavioral protocols and case management systems within the PNP, that will address the prevention and management of abuse and violence against children.                                     .

The said workshop also aims to identify the requirement of the Council for the Welfare of Children (CWC) for all its member agencies to formulate and come-up with its own Child Protection Policy before the end of October 2014. It further aim to enhance the skills of WCPD personnel in handling children’s cases.

The CWC is an inter-agency body of the Philippine Government mandated to develop policy, coordinate the implementation and enforcement of all laws concerning children, and monitor and evaluate policies, programs, and projects for children while Stairway Foundation Inc., is an organization involved in the promotion of Children’s Rights and Child Sexual Abuse Prevention which extended their support in guiding and assisting the PNP in the formulation of its own Child Protection Policy.

Further, Stairway Foundation Inc., donated Anatomically Correct Dolls , both male and female dolls to all the Chiefs of Women and Children Protection Desk nationwide.

Anatomically correct or anatomically detailed dolls are often used during forensic interviewing of children as part of the investigation of child sexual abuse allegations. It is thought that anatomically detailed dolls facilitate disclosure of sexual abuse by enabling children to demonstrate acts that may be difficult to verbalize or by promoting memory retrieval. Anatomically correct dolls may also serve as models for assessing children’s names for body parts or bodily functions.
