Camp Efigenio C Navarro, Calapan City-Result of the Regional Oversight Committee meetings conducted by the Police Regional Office MMAROPA declared twenty-two (22) barangays in the region as “Drug Free Barangays” out of the one thousand four hundred fifty-nine (1,459) total number of barangays region wide.
The declaration was named based on the results of the validation conducted by the Police Regional Office MIMAROPA in cooperation with its Stakeholders, Local Government Units, Armed Forces of the Phillipines, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and other Law Enforcement Agencies on the resolution and certification issued by its Sangguniang Barangay and Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council (BADAC), Municipal/City Police Stations stating that there is no identified watchlist or target list of drug personalities in the said barangays.
The said twenty-two (22) drug free barangays were from Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro namely: Barangays Nag-iba 1, Biga, Navotas and Tawagan; three (3) in Naujan, Oriental Mindoro namely: Barangays Andres Ylagan, Nag-iba I and Nag-iba II; three (3) barangays in Socorro, Oriental Mindoro namely: Barangays Ma. Concepcion, Malugay and Villareal; two (2) barangays in Baco, Oriental Mindoro namely: Barangays Lantuyang and Baras; two (2) barangays in Bulalacao, Oriental Mindoro namely: Barangays Benli and Cabugao; two (2) barangays in Bongabong, Oriental Mindoro namely: Barangays Batangan and Lisap. Likewise, one (1) barangay in Puerto Galera in Oriental Mindoro namely Barangay Villaflor; Barangay Caagutayan in San Teodoro, Oriental Mindoro; Barangay Tagumpay in Pola, Oriental Mindoro; Barangay Panaytayan in Mansalay, Oriental Mindoro; Barangay Talisay in Calatrava, Romblon and Barangay Langogan in Puerto Princesa City, Palawan.
These barangays are “Drug-Unaffected Barangay” or has not ever been plagued or beset by any illegal drug activities and considered to be unaffected by illegal drugs or there are no users, pushers and no laboratories or plantations in the said barangays.
Meanwhile, PSSUPT RENATO C ANGARA, Officer-In-Charge and the concurrent Deputy Regional Director for Administration already ordered all Provincial Directors and City Director to exert their efforts in the conduct of drug-clearing operations and to personally supervise their Chiefs of Police to work hand on hand with their respective barangay officials in the conduct of the said operations following the fourteen (14) parameters set forth by the Dangerous Drug Board to establish a drug free community.
Further, in PRO MIMAROPA’s continuous operations against those identified High Value Targets (HVT), the suspect FLORANTE CLETO ESTEBAN, 34 years old, married, Barangay Kagawad of Sitio Gutad Barangay Tanyag, Calintaan, Occidental Mindoro was arrested on October 26, 2016 along with five (5) others during the service of the Search Warrant by the joint personnel of Occidental Mindoro Focus Team of Rizal MPS, Municipal Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operation Task Force (MAIDSOTF) of San Jose MPS and 4IB Philippine Army and PDEA.
Cohorts of the suspects who were also arrested were identified as Godofredo Cadut Malayas alias “JoJo”, 40 years, male, married and a resident of Barangay Poblacion VII; Romeo Palad Silva alias “Romy” , 50 years old, separated, vendor, and a resident of Purok Mabuhay, Barangay Bagong Sikat, Benjamin Sindanum Mase alias “Benjie”,38 years old, married, tricycle driver, and a resident of Barangay Bagong Sikat, Rey Caballes Torres, 32 years old, separated, jobless and a resident of Barangay San Roque and Nica Hortilano Dades, 30 years old, female, waitress, native of Lucena City and temporarily residing in Barangay San Roque.
The operatives confiscated from the possessions of the suspects five (5) sachets of white crystalline substance believed to be Methamphetamine Hydrochloride otherwise known as shabu and assorted drug paraphernalia.
In reinvigorating the PNP’s approach to Double Barrel Alpha, an extension and expansion of Project Double Barrel, PRO MIMAROPA increase its number of surrenderers from 19,170 to 19, 258 as of December 1, 2016. Out of that number, seventeen thousand six hundred one (17,601) are users and one thousand six hundred fifty-seven (1, 657) are pushers. Further, four hundred seventy-six (476) drug personalities were arrested during police operations such as service of Search Warrant, Buy-Bust and Police Response. Out of 476 personalities arrested, eleven (11) personalities are High Value Targets.
Continuous collaboration with the government agencies, LGUs, NGOs and the community is being undertaken by Police Regional Office MIMAROPA in the conduct of drug clearing operations anchored in the reciprocal responsibility to establish a drug free community.
