Camp Efigenio C Navarro, Calapan City- Based on the result of the Regional Oversight Committee meetings conducted by Police Regional Office MIMAROPA, another twenty (20) more barangays in MIMAROPA were declared “Drug-Free”. Of the twenty (20), sixteen (16) were from the province of Mindoro Occidental, one (1) in the province of Mindoro Oriental, two (2) in the province of Marinduque and one (1) in the province of Palawan.
The said twenty (20) additional barangays declared as “Drug-Free” are Barangay Binakas of Lubang, Occidental Mindoro; Barangays Kurtinangan and Dayap of Santa Cruz, Occidental Mindoro; Barangays Harrison and Mananao of Paluan, Occidental Mindoro; and Barangays Catayungan, Bangkal, Ansiray, Monteclaro, Natandol, Pawican , LabanganIlin, Inasakan, Buri, Iling Proper and Ipil, all of San Jose, Occidental Mindoro. Further, Barangay Bethel of Oriental Mindoro; BarangaysBaliis and Kamandugan of Sta. Cruz, Marinduque and Barangay Pag-Asa of Kalayaan, Palawan.
Out of the one thousand four hundred fifty-nine (1, 459) total number of barangays region wide, MIMAROPA has already a total of forty-two (42) barangays which were already declared “Drug-Free” as of January 1, 2017.
The declaration was named based on the results of the validation conducted by the Police Regional Office MIMAROPA in cooperation with its Stakeholders, LocalGovernment Units, Armed Forces of the Philippines, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and other Law Enforcement Agencies on the resolution and certification issued by its Sangguniang Barangay and Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council (BADAC), Municipal/City Police Stations stating that there is no identified watch list or target list of drug personalities in the said barangays.
These barangays are “Drug-Unaffected Barangay” or has not ever been plagued or beset by any illegal drug activities and considered to be unaffected by illegal drugs or there are no users, pushers and no laboratories or plantations in the said barangays.Meanwhile, PCSUPT WILBEN M MAYOR, Regional Director is closely monitoring the efforts being exerted by the Provincial Directors and City Director in the conduct of drug-clearing operations. He further reiterated to the Chiefs of Office to personally supervise their Chiefs of Police to work hand on hand with their respective barangay officials in the conduct of the said operations following the fourteen (14) parameters set forth by the Dangerous Drug Board to establish a drug free community.
