Camp BGen Efigenio C Navarro, Calapan City — Police Regional Office MIMAROPA, under the stewardship of Police Brigadier General Sidney Sultan Hernia, had arrested 65 individuals involved in illegal gambling activities during the simultaneous one-day anti-crime operations launched by all police units regionwide on Tuesday, September 6, 2022.
Deputy Regional Director for Operations, Police Colonel Gil Francis G Tria, said a total of 25 anti-illegal gambling operations were conducted by the five different Police Provincial Offices and one City Police Office which resulted in the arrest of 65 violators and confiscation of P16,565.00 bet money.
“Most number of arrests came from Occidental Mindoro and Marinduque PPOs, both with 15; followed by Oriental Mindoro PPO, 14; Romblon PPO and Puerto Princesa CPO, both with 10; and Palawan PPO, 1”, PCOL Tria added.
All arrested persons are now under police custody while appropriate criminal complaints are being prepared for filing against them.
Records from the Regional Operations Division revealed that since January this year, PRO MIMAROPA had already launched 291 anti-illegal gambling operations which resulted in the arrest of 1,081 personalities and confiscation of a total amount of P318, 712.00 bet money.
PBGen Hernia lauded the operating units for their accomplishments in the PNP’s campaign illegal gambling activities.
“The arrest of these illegal gamblers is a proof that our units are operating against all forms of illegal gambling activities. I urge all unit commanders to unceasingly enforce the law as we maintain the peace and order in the region”, PBGen Hernia said. — RPIO MIMAROPA
