Camp BGen Efigenio C Navarro, Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro- Marlon Malapote Lamonte, 47 years old, jobless and a resident of Brgy. Anoling, Pinamalayan, Oriental Mindoro was arrested in Brgy. Mabuhay I, Soccoro, Oriental Mindoro as a result of the thorough planning led by Police Colonel GIL FRANCIS G TRIA, the Deputy Regional Director for Operations of Police Regional Office MIMAROPA, PCPT MAGDALINO G PIMENTEL, and PLT MARK SON S ALMERANEZ, and intensified police operation of the Technical Support Company of Regional Mobile Force Battalion-4B headed by PMAJ CISCO ISRAEL T MAGNAYE, together with the support of the municipal police stations of Naujan, and Soccoro, and Calapan City Police Station, all under Oriental Mindoro Police Provincial Office, on January 20, 2022.
The said arrest was made by virtue of arrest warrant issued by Regional Trial Court, Branch 41, Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro for two counts of rape with no bail recommended.
The PNP Crime Incidents Recording and Analysis System (CIRAS), in coordination with Women and Children Protection Desk of Police Regional Office MIMAROPA, reveals that 1,763 rape cases had been recorded in the entire region from Calendar Year 2017 to 2021.
Statistics even speaks that most of the rape incidents were committed in the Province of Oriental Mindoro and out of the total number of cases, most of them were perpetrated through force and intimidation which corresponds to 27.22% followed by statutory rape which scores 2.38%.
Within the same period, 1,242 cases were solved (70.44%), 516 were cleared (29.26%), and 5 are still under investigation (0.40%).
Rape cases still stand as the second most prevalent crime involving violence against women and children, but number 1 among the eight focus crimes in the whole region.
As of today, PRO MIMAROPA had arrested a total of 381 most wanted persons, and 1,198 other wanted persons reckoning from January 2021 including rape cases.

This only manifests our men and women’s fervent drive to catch all criminals under the long arms of the law”, Police Brigadier General SIDNEY SULTAN HERNIA, Regional Director of Police Regional Office MIMAROPA, emphasized.
“I, therefore, direct all unit commanders to launch vigorous and massive operations against most wanted persons targeting all accused of rape in the entire region as part of our One-Time-Big-Time”, he added.
