Camp BGen Efigenio C Navarro, Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro- Two Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) members died in an armed encounter with the Philippine Army and Philippine National Police Special Action Force (PNP-SAF) in Occidental Mindoro on Monday, April 25, 2022.

The police report revealed that government forces from 23rd MICO, 23rd DRC, 68IB, 76IB, and 4IB of 203rd Brigade, Philippine Army; and 101 Special Action Company under 10th Special Action Battalion of the PNP-SAF
were conducting intelligence operations when they encountered more or less 10 CTG members led by “Ka Floro” at around 6:10 AM in Sitio Bumbungan, Barangay Malpalon, Calintaan, of the said province.

The encounter lasted for about 20 minutes and resulted in the death of two CTG members and the recovery of two high-powered firearms and other paraphernalia.

As of press time, continuous clearing operations are still being pursued by the said operating units with augmentation from the Occidental Mindoro Police Provincial Office Mobile Force Company and Regional Mobile Force Battalion 4B.

Statistics disclosed that since January of the present year, PRO MIMAROPA’s relentless efforts together with the Localized Peace Engagement (LPE) Cluster of the Regional Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (RTF-ELCAC) MIMAROPA resulted in the surrender of 63 and arrests of 6 CTG members in the region.

Meanwhile, Police Regional Office MIMAROPA Director Police Brigadier General SIDNEY SULTAN HERNIA reiterated his call for the peaceful surrender of the remaining CTG members in MIMAROPA.

“Our unwavering commitment, under National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC), with the active support of local government units proved to be successful in securing our region against the threat of communist terrorism.” PBGen Hernia said. – RPIO MIMAROPA
