Camp Efigenio C Navarro, Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro – In an aim to ensure a safe and secure 2023 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE), on August 28, 2023, PRO MIMAROPA Regional Director PBGEN JOEL B DORIA led the red teaming operations and inspection of established COMELEC Checkpoints in the region.
The establishment of COMELEC checkpoints was carried out pursuant to COMELEC Resolution No. 10924 to effectively implement the ban on firearms and other deadly weapons during the 90-day election period from August 28 to November 29, 2023, for the 2023 BSKE.
The following COMELEC checkpoints were visited and inspected: COMELEC checkpoint along the National Highway, Brgy. Sta. Isabel, Calapan City led by PLTCOL DANILO U DRIZ, JR, Chief of Police, Calapan City Police Station; and COMELEC checkpoint along the National Road, Brgy. Poblacion, Baco, Oriental Mindoro led by PCPT ERMIN C CABANDING, OIC, Baco Municipal Police Station.
PBGEN DORIA reminded the PNP personnel manning the checkpoints to strictly observe and implement the prescribed guidelines on establishing and operating COMELEC checkpoints.
“I remind every PNP personnel in the region manning the COMELEC Checkpoints to observe courtesy at all times and strictly adhere to the PNP’s standard of conduct and behavior,” PBGEN DORIA emphasized.
The MIMAROPA Top Cop further stressed that all PNP personnel in every COMELEC checkpoint should always adhere to the guidance of the higher headquarters, observe “Tamang Bihis”, and be more security conscious and vigilant at all times.
“Let us work together and remain vigilant in upholding PRO MIMAROPA’s aggressive stance against all forms of criminality while we give our best to maintaining peace and order during this election period,” he said.
The COMELEC Resolution No. 10924 prohibits the bearing, carrying, or transporting of firearms or other deadly weapons in public places, including any building, street, park, private vehicle, or public conveyance, or even if licensed to possess or carry the same, unless authorized by the Commission.
