Camp BGen Efigenio C Navarro, Calapan City—Police Regional Office MIMAROPA, led by Regional Director PBGEN JOEL B DORIA, commemorated the 125th National Flag Day during a Flag Raising Ceremony held at 8:00 AM on May 28, 2023, in Camp BGen Efigenio C Navarro, Brgy. Suqui, Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro.
The ceremony was held simultaneously with all government offices in the country, with this year’s theme being “Kalayaan, Kinabukasan, Kasaysayan.”
The activity was made more significant with the mass singing of the National Anthem, followed by the Panunumpa ng Katapatan sa Watawat ng Pilipinas and “Pagpupugay sa Watawat.”
PBGEN DORIA stressed in a statement that the Philippine flag is a powerful symbol that encapsulates the trials and victories of our nation’s past, the valor and selflessness of our heroes, and the hopes and dreams of the Filipino people.
“As we observe National Flag Day, let us reignite our resolve to uphold our country’s values and work towards a better future for all Filipinos,” said PBGEN DORIA.
The Philippines celebrates National Flag Day every May 28 to honor the date when the Philippine flag was first raised after the Philippine Revolutionary Army defeated the Spanish forces in the Battle of Alapan in 1898, and it is mandated that the Philippine flag be displayed from May 28 to June 12 of each year, declared as “Flag Days” under Section 26 of Republic Act No. 8491, in all government offices, agencies, and instrumentalities, as well as business establishments, institutions of learning, and private homes. — RPIO MIMAROPA
