Camp BGen Efigenio C Navarro, Calapan City – Police Regional Office MIMAROPA led by Regional Director, Police Brigadier General JOEL B DORIA, has turned-over Php1,067,585 cash assistance to the Provincial Government of Oriental Mindoro on Monday, May 29, 2023.
In a simple ceremony, the MIMAROPA top cop, represented by PCOL NATHANIEL G VILLEGAS, Chief of Regional Staff, formally turned over the cash assistance to Oriental Mindoro Governor, Hon. Humerlito A. Dolor, held at the Capitol Complex, Brgy. Camilmil, Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro.
The said activity was also witnessed by Dr. Hubbert Christopher A. Dolor, Provincial Administrator; PCOL SAMUEL S DELORINO, Provincial Director, Oriental Mindoro PPO; and PMAJ CHRISTIAN A MARQUEZ, Chief, Community Affairs Section under Regional Community Affairs and Development Division.
The said donation were the proceeds from PRO MIMAROPA’s Color Fun Run for a Cause (Run for the Affected Families of Oil Spill Incident), a regionwide simultaneous PNP-initiated activity, in collaboration with the various local government units, other government agencies and stakeholders, which aimed to raise funds intended to alleviate the living conditions of families affected by the oil spill incident in Oriental Mindoro held last April 28, 2023.
In a statement, PBGEN DORIA expressed gratitude to the members of the PNP units in MIMAROPA and all who extended financial assistance and played part to accomplish this activity to help those communities severely affected by the effects of oil spill in the province.
“Through our collective efforts, we were able to provide much-needed financial assistance to our fellow citizens in Oriental Mindoro who were greatly affected by the oil spill. We remain committed to serving our communities and providing aid in times of need.” said PBGEN DORIA.
On May 3, PRO MIMAROPA has donated Php1,250,624 from voluntary contributions from its personnel and all PNP units in the region to help those poor and oil spill- affected families in Pola, Oriental Mindoro.
The municipality of Pola sustained the most damage from the oil spill incident in the province of Oriental Mindoro, affecting 11 barangays, 4, 839 families, 24, 195 individuals and 7 marine protected areas.
Based on the data from NDRRMC, the province of Oriental Mindoro has sustained estimated environmental damage over P7 billion and P3.8 billion damage to fisheries including income loss caused by the oil spill.
