Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro – The Police Regional Office (PRO) MIMAROPA, led by PBGEN JOEL B DORIA, Regional Director, launches an exciting mural contest as a creative endeavor to promote regional pride and community engagement.

The pre-judging of pre-layouts took place on June 14, 2023, at Balay Lakoy, RHQ Building, Camp BGen Efigenio C Navarro, Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro.

Under the theme “Serbisyong Nagkakaisa, Sama-samang Pagpinta, Ipakita ang Ganda ng MIMAROPA,” the said project aims to beautify and transform the Perimeter Fence/Wall, showcasing the rich history, customs, traditions, vibrant festivities, and breathtaking tourist destinations of MIMAROPA.

A total of 40 mural layout entries from various police units and offices in the region were carefully adjudged during the event.

PCOL ADONIS B GUZMAN, Chief of the Regional Community Affairs and Development Division (RCADD), expressed his heartfelt appreciation to all the attendees, recognizing their role in fostering a conducive workplace that encourages imagination and innovation.

“This event promises to be a visual spectacle as talented artists bring their creations to life, infusing the Perimeter Fence/Wall with vibrant colors and captivating imagery that truly represents the spirit of MIMAROPA,” PCOL GUZMAN remarked.

The activity was graced by the presence of an esteemed panel of judges, chaired by Mr. Don Stepherson V. Calda, Ph.D., Department Head of Provincial Tourism Office.

The panel also included Ms. Susan Cruz, Museum Technician 2 from the Mangyan Heritage Museum; Ms. Raja G. Barber, Municipal Councilor of Victoria, Oriental Mindoro; Ms. Ma. Valentina Famela M. Telmo, a talented Guhit Pinas Artist; Ms. Julie Ann S. Ulip, another skilled Guhit Pinas Artist; and Rev. Fr. PCPT ARNULFO E FRAGA JR, Regional Pastoral Officer, represented by PCpl Leo Bejasa, a dedicated Finance PNCO from the Chaplain Service.

Out of the entries, 25 mural layouts have qualified for the highly anticipated on-site Mural Painting event, scheduled to take place on July 18, 2023.

In a statement, PBGEN DORIA remarked, “this momentous occasion will serve as a testament to the artistic talent and cultural significance encapsulated within each masterpiece.”

“Together, let us forge ahead and continue our journey towards making PRO MIMAROPA a truly conducive place to work and visit. By working together, we can create an environment that not only fosters productivity but also captures the essence and beauty of our region,” he added.

The final judging of the mural entries is set to take place on July 24, 2023, at the project site.
