Camp BGen Efigenio C Navarro, CALAPAN CITY – Police Regional Office MIMAROPA led by its 18th Regional Director, PBGEN JOEL B DORIA, is taking a proactive policing strategy that focuses on crime prevention and community engagement towards peace and order in the region.

The MIMAROPA top cop said the proactive approach is aimed at reducing the crime rate in the region by addressing the root causes of criminal behavior and establishing strong partnerships with local communities.

“We will be more proactive in our approach to addressing the issues that lead to crime, in support to the 5-focused agenda of Chief, PNP PGEN BENJAMIN C ACORDA, JR, which emphasize the conduct of aggressive and honest law enforcement operations and community engagement” said PBGEN DORIA.

“We aim to enhance our partnerships and engagement with our stakeholders, both in public and private sectors, businesses, non-government institutions in local communities,” he added.

On May 2, the 2023 National Crime Prevention Program was approved, aiming to increase nationwide safety and security through a whole-of-government effort to adopt a preventive approach to crime, which includes removing instruments of crime, eliminating criminal elements, and strengthening soft targets with increased police presence.

“The use of technology and data is also an important part of our proactive policing strategy. By analyzing crime data, we can identify patterns and trends and allocate our resources more effectively to prevent crime before it occurs,” PBGEN Doria explained.

Since January this year up to present, PRO MIMAROPA recorded 1,894 crime incidents, 10.95 percent decrease from the 2,127 crimes recorded in the same period last year.

The MIMAROPA top cop has also intensified its intelligence-gathering operations to identify and arrest criminal elements in the region.

Records from the Regional Operations Division revealed that since January this year, PRO MIMAROPA has conducted a total of 82 police operations that resulted in the arrest of 273 persons involved in illegal gambling activities and confiscation of a total bet money amounting to Php91,300.00.

Moreover, on the same period, PRO MIMAROPA arrested a total of 157 drug personalities and seized a total of 443.27 grams of Shabu and 831.45 grams of Marijuana worth Php3,014,225.00 and Php124,717.50, respectively.

On illegal logging, a total of 81 operations were conducted that resulted in the arrest of 41 individuals and confiscation of 14,034.35 board feet of illegally sawn lumbers worth Php596,123.06.
