– The intensified counter-insurgency campaign of Police Regional Office MIMAROPA (PRO MIMAROPA) led by Police Brigadier General SIDNEY SULTAN HERNIA through the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) resulted in the voluntary surrender of two former NPAs in the Barrio in Oriental Mindoro on Thursday, December 1, 2022.
Reports revealed that “Ka Gringo”, 27, who hails from Bulalacao, and “Ka Jimbo,” 33, who were members of Platoon SERNA of Kilusang Larangang Gerilya-Mark Anthony Velasco (KLG-MAV) under the Lucio de Guzman Command of the Sub-Regional Military Area (SRMA-4D), Southern Tagalog Regional Party Committee (STRPC), voluntarily surrendered after a series of dialogue with 403rd B MC, RMFB 4B led by Police Lieutenant SHERWIN S RAMIREZ in Barangay Cabalwa, Mansalay, of the said province.
The successful surrender of the said former rebels was made possible through the assistance from Bulalacao Municipal Police Station, 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company, and Provincial Intelligence Unit, all under Oriental Mindoro PPO; Regional Intelligence Division;10th Special Action Battalion, PNP Special Action Force; 4th Infantry Battalion and 23rd Military Intelligence Company, 203rd IB, Philippine Army; and Regional Intelligence Unit MIMAROPA, PNP Intelligence Group.
The said surrenderers are now under the custody of 403rd B MC, RMFB, for debriefing and assistance in their enrollment to the Enhanced Comprehensive and Local Integration Program (E-CLIP).
“All those who surrendered can avail the E-CLIP for their reintegration to the community and will be receiving livelihood program and cash aid from the government,” PBGen Hernia said.
Records show that PRO MIMAROPA had already facilitated the surrender of 164 former NPA rebels and supporters since January this year.– RPIO MIMAROPA
