Camp BGen Efigenio C Navarro, Calapan City – After more than three years in hiding, Jai Sunshine Santos Chua, who is wanted for several crimes of Kidnapping for Ransom, Carnapping, and Violation of R.A. 7610, was finally captured in Puerto Princesa City, Palawan on Tuesday evening, December 6, 2022.
Police Regional Office MIMAROPA Director Police Brigadier General Sidney Sultan Hernia commended the successful law enforcement operatives led by the members of the City Intelligence Unit together with the Police Station 1, both under Puerto Princesa City Police Office led by Police Colonel Roberto M Bucad, City Director, that led to the arrest of Chua, 37, in Rizal Avenue, Brgy. Liwanag, Puerto Princesa City at around 10:15 PM.
Chua, who resides in Barangay Bancao-bancao of the said city, was arrested by a warrant of arrest for three (3) separate crimes of Kidnapping for Ransom issued by the National Capital Judicial Region, Branch 69 and 70 in Taguig City on January 31, April 19, and April 29, all in 2019 with no bail recommended.
Likewise, she has other pending warrants of arrest for two (2) counts of violation of R.A. 7610 (Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act) in relation to PD 603, with recommended bail of Php10,000 each; and violation of R.A. 10883 (New Anti-Carnapping Act of 2016) with recommended bail of Php300,000, all issued by the National Capital Judicial Region, Branch 69 in Taguig City on January 31 and February 19, 2019, respectively.
Further, reports suggest that Chua was implicated as one of the members of a criminal group acting as PDEA agents involved in extortion activities in the areas of the National Capital Region and CALABARZON.
The arrested accused is now under police custody and will be turned over to the issuing court as soon as possible.
“I laud the successful efforts of our police units in this operation. The arrest of Chua is a huge accomplishment in our drive against wanted persons, and we thank the continuous support of the public who provided vital information leading to the arrest of said wanted person”, PBGen Hernia said.
“I have already directed the operatives of Puerto Princesa CPO to collaborate and work closely with the other concerned PNP units and law enforcement agencies to locate and arrest the other criminal group members. Walang imposible basta tulong-tulong tayo”, he added. – RPIO MIMAROPA
