Camp BGen Efigenio C Navarro, Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro- Police Regional Office MIMAROPA, under the leadership of Police Brigadier General NELSON B BONDOC, Regional Director, has recorded zero stray bullet incident during the celebration of New Year’s Eve which means 100% decrease of incidents this year as compared to the same season last year.

Achieving zero incident of stray bullet, illegal discharge of firearm, and indiscriminating firing could be attributed to the intensified dissemination efforts of the dedicated policemen and policewomen in the field down to the municipal police stations.

Despite the fact that three (3) firecrackers related incidents transpired in the Municipalities of Bongabong, Pola, and City of Calapan, all in the Province of Oriental Mindoro, which signify increase of two (2) incidents this year compared to last year’s statistics, the entire MIMAROPA Region still remains peaceful during the New Year’s Eve festivity.

Statistics even depicts that this year’s celebration in MIMAROPA only injured all adults: 19, 44, and 57 years old, and none of the children was hurt.

In line with the 2022 New Year’s Celebration, PRO MIMAROPA deployed 863 personnel together with 2,531 force multipliers, in all areas of convergence such as seaports, airports, malls, public markets, bus terminals, churches, and main thoroughfares.

In order to ensure a peaceful fete this year, checkpoints operations were vigorously conducted every now and then which recorded a total of 1,669 from December 16, 2021 up to this time.

“I am so glad that as of this time, only three firecrackers related incidents were recorded throughout MIMAROPA Region and what makes me so grateful is that we have attained zero incident of stray bullet, indiscriminating firing, and illegal discharge of firearm”, PBGen Bondoc remarked.

“Lubos akong nagpapasalamat sa lahat ng ating kapulisan sa kanilang puspusang pagbabantay sa mga lansangan at pampublikong lugar upang siguraduhin lamang na ligtas ang pagsalubong sa Bagong Taon para sa ating mga kababayan”, he continued. – RPIO MIMAROPA
